What appliances does Appliance Monk repair?

We repair the major appliances in your home: refrigerators, freezers and ice makers; washers; dryers; dishwashers; and ovens, ranges and cooktops. We also do preventive maintenance and appliance installation. If you are not sure whether we can help with a specific appliance, call (346) 307-4075 and ask.

Which appliance brands do you work on?

We work on most major brands, such as Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE and Bosch, along with many others. The quickest way to confirm is to tell us the brand and model number when you call.

What areas do you serve?

Appliance Monk is based in Fulshear and serves Katy, Fulshear, Richmond, Sugar Land, Cypress, Spring, The Woodlands and the Memorial / Memorial City area of Houston, plus ZIP codes 77019, 77382, 77401, 77316, 77008, 77433, 77018, 77005, 77055, 77024, 77380, 77381, 77373, 77379, 77388 and 77389. See all service areas. If you are nearby but not listed, call and ask.

How much does an appliance repair cost?

It depends on what is actually wrong. A clogged drain filter and a failed control board are very different jobs. We diagnose the problem first and give you a price before any repair work starts, so you can decide whether the repair makes sense.

Is there a service call or diagnostic fee?

Ask when you call and we will tell you what the visit costs before anything is scheduled, so there are no surprises.

Do your repairs come with a warranty?

Ask us when you book and we will explain what coverage applies to your repair and the parts used.

Should I repair or replace my appliance?

A common rule of thumb: if the appliance is fairly young and the repair costs well under half the price of a comparable new one, repair usually wins. Replacement starts to make more sense for very old units, for major sealed-system failures on older refrigerators, or when parts are no longer available. We will give you an honest read once we know what is wrong. Many problems, such as a bad igniter, a clogged pump, a worn belt or a failed fan motor, are very fixable.

My appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty. Can you fix it?

Check with the manufacturer first. Repairs covered by a manufacturer's warranty usually need to go through the manufacturer's own authorized service network, and an outside repair could affect that coverage. Once the factory warranty has ended, or if the problem is not covered, we are glad to help.

Do you offer same-day appointments?

It depends on the schedule that day. Call (346) 307-4075 and we will give you the earliest time we can honestly be there.

What should I have ready before the visit?

The brand, the model number and a short description of the problem (including any error code on the display). Clear a path to the appliance, move items off the top of a washer or dryer, and keep pets in another room. If you can, note when the problem started and whether anything changed, such as a power outage or a move.

Where do I find my appliance's model number?

  • Refrigerator: on a label inside the fresh-food section, usually on a side wall or the ceiling.
  • Dishwasher: on the edge of the door or the side of the tub, visible when the door is open.
  • Washer: under the lid on top-loaders; around the door opening or on the back on front-loaders.
  • Dryer: inside the door frame or on the back panel.
  • Range or oven: behind the storage/warming drawer or on the frame when the oven door is open.

A phone photo of the label is perfect.

My dryer smells like it is burning. Is it safe to keep using it?

No. Turn it off and unplug it (and close the gas valve on a gas dryer if you know where it is). A burning smell can mean lint buildup near the heat source, a failing motor or a worn part rubbing. Do not use it until it has been checked. Read our dryer safety tips.

I smell gas near my range or dryer. What should I do?

Leave the house right away, do not flip light switches or use anything that could spark, and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Gas leaks are an emergency for the gas company and first responders, not something to wait on an appliance repair appointment for.

Do you install new appliances?

Yes. See appliance installation for what to check before your new appliance arrives, and call to confirm we can handle your specific installation.
